A Long Strange Trip (Długa Dziwna Podróż – Eine Lange Seltsame Reise) draws inspiration from the Californian rock band Grateful Dead. The title serves as a metaphor for the ongoing challenge of navigating and enduring personal upheavals. Killisch explains, “I’m not a Dead Head myself, but their music is currently playing loudly and incessantly in my studio. The album Anthem of the Sun aligns beautifully with my paintings. The music is psychedelic and layered in complex ways.”
The exhibition A Long Strange Trip presents an exploration of both internal and external journeys throughout the rooms of Packhof, without a clear destination. One of the rooms is designed to resemble the artist’s studio. The floor is covered with old floorboards from his own studio, on which records, paints, remnants, and other materials are scattered. A studio, for an artist, is more than just a space for creating art; it’s a place for listening to music, reading, and hosting visitors. Therefore, this replica of studio is used as a platform for small events that can be experienced alongside the artworks in the exhibition.
